The 2007 edition of the Cape Film Guide is officially out of print. After an incredibly successful year, countless accolades, and international praise, it is time to move on to our third edition.
Because of the overwhelming success of the 2007 edition, we are increasing our print run to 10 000 copies, 5 000 of which will be distributed by the London- based international film directory, Kemps.
The other 5 000 copies are being distributed by the Cape Film Commission, where they will be used as official marketing material for the city at all major international and local film festivals and expos.
The Cape Film Commission (CFC) is the official advocate for the feature film, television, video, commercials, and stills photography production industry in Cape Town and the Western Cape. The core aim of the CFC is to position Cape Town and the Western Cape as a globally competitive location, thereby boosting tourism, job creation and the development of core competencies.
The total turnover of the Western Cape film industry is estimated at R2.65bn for the 2005/6 financial year of which about 77 percent (R2.03bn) occurred in Cape Town. It is estimated that the Western Cape film industry contributed R3.5bn to South African GDP in the 2006 financial year. 252,000 bed nights (hotels and guesthouses) were generated in the Western Cape in 2006 from the film industry.
Be a part of the film industry, and attract production companies to your establishment by taking advantage of the advertorial opportunities for 4 and 5 Star accommodation. Only 30 pages of the 160 page book are allocated for advertorial, and only world-class institutions are invited to profile.
